Multilaminar Veneers
These engineered veneers are created by layering dyed veneers into a man-made log or ‘block’. Each raw veneer is assembled in a specific order to produce straight grain or crown cut veneers, or in a colour sequence to deliver highly decorative patterns, unique to the Tabu Collection.
Constructed entirely from natural wood, multilaminar veneers offer visual consistency with outstanding sustainability credentials. Once assembled, the engineered blocks are sliced into uniform sheets, delivering repeatable grain, extended lengths, and minimal wastage — ideal for large scale, colour critical applications.
Key Benefits of Engineered Natural Veneers
Standard sheet sizes reduce off-cut waste compared to natural or pre-dyed veneer.
Longer and wider sheet or leaf sizes than natural logs. These can be up to 305cm x 70cm.
Each man-made block has a high veneer yield of approximately 1500m² — perfect for larger veneered areas.
The controlled production process creates more consistent grain versus those in their natural state.
Fast growing species from areas of re-afforestation are mainly used in these veneers, making them a sustainable choice.
Although an ‘engineered’ veneer, they are still made entirely of wood, with all its beneficial properties.
Graffiti
Designed to turn surfaces into features, our Graffiti collection by Tabu Italy brings veneer into the realms of wall art. The collection includes geometric textures and modern marquetry designs. These veneer sheets have been created for maximum visual impact, combining engineered precision with style driven design.
Available in a growing range of finishes — from subtle linear grains to graphic pattern overlays — this collection is ideal for hospitality, retail, and high-spec residential interiors where surface detail makes the space.
Rough Cut Veneers
Rough cut veneers retain the honesty and feel of raw timber, but in a practical, workable format. The distinctive cross-hatched surface adds visual depth and a tactile dimension to interior surfaces, creating a handcrafted look which feels both organic and contemporary.
Available in both natural and dyed variants, these veneers are processed using a profiled cutting blade to produce a natural rough sawn effect, akin to unfinished planks of wood, though in veneer thicknesses. The textural interest makes this veneer a great choice for a natural, rustic effect.
Smoked Veneers
Smoked or ‘fumed’ veneers are all about richness and depth. The fuming process involves exposing the wood to ammonia which emphasises the natural contrast within the wood, enhancing grain structure and developing warm, rich colour tones from caramel to deep brown without the need for surface staining.
The process adds some interesting definition to the grain, particularly in crown cut veneers where lighter streaks develop in the heartwood. This is especially effective in species like Oak, Walnut and Larch, where the variation in heartwood and sapwood creates beautiful tonal shifts.
With their sophisticated finish, smoked veneers are perfect for high-end residential joinery, hospitality and commercial interiors and statement furniture pieces.
